Five In A Row?
By Ron Allen
To win a fifth consecutive title is the goal of powerhouse La Dolfina (40) as they, once again, set out the beat Ellerstina (39) in the finals of the Tortugas Open this Saturday at Palermo. Cambiaso and company started this win streak back in 2013 and last year they beat up on the Pieres clan 18 to 12 on 11 goals from Adolfo.

At one time Ellerstina had their own win streak going, having won six in a row before La Dolfina stepped into the fray. The first Ellerstina win at Tortugas dates back to 1992 when Australian Kerry Packer funded the Pieres’ team and launched what would become one of the world’s most successful high goal polo teams.

In a high stakes game where horsepower matters more than anything both teams are well mounted with Ellerstina’s Polito Pieres claiming he’s better mounted this season than anytime in the past. Regardless of who wins both teams only get three days rest before their opening matches in the Hurlingham tournament next Tuesday.
