PIAGET TAKES OVER PALM BEACH
FOR ANOTHER GOLD CUP TOURNAMENT
For the fifth consecutive year Piaget will continue its support of polo at one of the world’s premiere
venues, the International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC), with the kick-off of the USPA Piaget Gold
Cup tournament. Introduced in 1974, this event is one of the most prestigious 26-goal tournaments
in the world and is a highlight of polo season.
The Piaget team will be captained by a friend of the brand, Marc Ganzi (1). Fellow Piaget polo
ambassador, Jeff Hall (7), along with Nico Pieres (8) and Gonzalito Pieres (10) will also help carry
the team. Piaget will be competing against teams from ERG, Alegria, Zacara, La Ensenada, Valiente
I, Coca-Cola, Las Monjitas, Lechuza Caracas and Orchard Hill throughout the course of the
tournament. Also participating will be team Audi, captained by Marc Ganzi’s wife, Melissa Ganzi,
who is fresh off her win at the Ylvisaker Cup tournament where she led the Piaget team to victory in
the final match-up against her husband.
The USPA Piaget Gold Cup tournament will take place over the next few weeks and will conclude
with the final match on Sunday, March 25th at IPC’s championship venue, Piaget Field. Larry
Boland, President of Piaget North America, will host a celebratory VIP field-side brunch for players,
patrons, and Palm Beach’s best and brightest.
Piaget has a long history with polo and for more than three decades has been associated with the
sport of kings in the United States, Argentina and Europe. Mr. Yves Piaget was a major supporter of
polo in Palm Beach in the late 1970s, and strongly believed that polo embodies the same attributes
as his company’s timepieces: beauty, daring and precision. The brand introduced the iconic Piaget
Polo watch in 1979.
